help children to try sport, love sport and stay in sport

I was so excited to see the announcement from Sean that he was offering 10 people the chance to complete an Iron(105) full distance triathlon. I am a triathlete but one who only recently learnt to swim front crawl and one now feeling ready to give the full distance a go.I love the idea of doing my first one in a supportive, non pressurized environment.

I was very active as a child, always running and even roller blading! I wasn’t big into team sports and they never quite ticked the box. I did manage to have a go at running in school albeit there wasn’t the focus on this as much as other aspects of life.

Sport is such a big part of my life and i think it is so important for kids to be in sport. It offers everyone such a life skill and should be a primary consideration in someones life.

I think it's an amazing opportunity to  swim bike run with such a legend.. I wasn't really that sporty as a child but I used to roller blade a lot... To be fair there wasn't really that much to do as a child.. The True Venture Foundation is such a great thing for kids to get involved in all sports. As a parent I do try and keep my kids active as much as possible. My daughter likes running and all my kids are into horse riding .. The only reason that I got into triathlon was after a friend of mine asked me to do a London to Brighton ride and I caught the bug for all those kind of sports then.

I am so excited to be part of iron 105 to celebrate the anniversary of Sean’s amazing World record achievement. All the challenges Sean has achieved are inspirational!! We should all be doing exciting activities and challenging ourselves!

Swimming has always been my favourite sport I have been swimming various distances including 30.9km, each year for Swimathon in recent years. As a child I played tennis and did trampolining.

I started cycling to commute to work, actually to save money on parking, not for any other reason! I then actually enjoyed it and began riding different types of bikes and cycling more and more!

Every child should have access to sport. They should have the chance to try out different sporting activities, find a spot they love and have the support they need to stay active and be physically healthy. It gives them something to look forward to, enjoy doing and learn new skills.

I enjoyed taking part in the 105 event on day 63 or 64. Liked Sean's energy. My son who is 10 enjoys watching Sean's adventures on YouTube as do I. I want to meet others who follow Sean to.

The sport I did as a kid included being the cross country captain in school because was sick of not been passed the ball in football. Hurdles, table tennis, running, hockey. I was also in the Boy's Brigade were I could continue sport in a fun way. Golf from the age of 10 and single figures by 14. But running has always been a constant. Faster now in my late 40's than ever.

I knew about multisport from Transworld sport on TV. But only took it up in 2005. Won an Aquathlon in 2017 with a dislocated shoulder. (Funny story). .

Kids need sport massively. More so now than ever to keep them off phones. They need to be encouraged that sport can lead anywhere. it will really help them in all walks of life including jobs, health, friendships and mental health.

My name is Katy and I am very much looking forward to taking part in the Iron105 Anniversary event. I followed Sean's progress during the Iron 102 challenge last year, whilst I was training for my first Ironman. The enormity of what Sean had managed to complete at the time when I was training really motivated me to believe that I could achieve something far beyond my expectations. I think that it is incredible what people can achieve when they choose to commit to it and develop the mental strength required.

I am taking part in this event as a personal challenge and because it is a fantastic opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the True Venture Foundation. I believe that having the opportunity to participate in sport and physical activity is something that every child deserves; however, sadly this is not always the case. I am passionate about supporting and encouraging children to try new sports and understand the benefits associated with them. I have now decided to change careers and go into P.E. teaching, so that I can drive this passion even further. By raising money for the True Venture Foundation, I hope to provide as many other children as possible with the opportunity to get involved in sport and education to continue participating in sport in the future.

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t…. when certain opportunities cross your path you don’t even think about if you should or shouldn’t, this is one of those times!

Growing up I drifted in and out of sport and in and out of trouble! I competed in cross country runs, football, cricket etc but the focus on being active and adventurous in my teenage years was saved by a teacher at School called Mr Deighton who ran a unique department in any school which was outdoor pursuits! This was the only thing I passed in my GCSE year! The importance of engaging children into sports to give a sense of belonging, acceptance and drive cannot be underestimated on the ability to create happy adults

Raising money supporting local projects is so important as these organisations deliver long term results beyond a checklist of a standardised performance review. ‘Measuring’ success on delivering these whole life skills and repeating this process generation after generation isn’t possible to measure today but only for future generations to judge

Since seeing Sean talk at the expo for the MdS in 2017 we have followed his antics and have read all his books.  Who wouldn't want to do an ironman alongside him?!  We did one of the marathons during his world record with him.

As a child I did many sports including swimming lessons, dance classes, gymnastics and ice skating.  I also represented my school at netball and athletics.

I continued to play netball as an adult but after an assault in 2015 I had to have facial surgery which made it too dangerous to continue playing.  It was then I rekindled my love for running.  In 2016 I met my now husband, Neil, and he had completed several ironman's.  I couldn't swim front crawl, didn't own a bike and had never ran further than 10k but thought to myself 'how hard can it be?!'  Training helped me to feel strong again after my assault and I completed Ironman Frankfurt alongside Neil in 2018.

it is so important to encourage youth sport.  It gives kids a sense of belonging, and so much self confidence that can never be taught in a classroom.

I’m looking forward to taking on my first full Ironman with the legend Sean Conway and the rest of the team.  I would really appreciate any donations, your money will go towards various projects which aim to help youth to be more active, by providing them with opportunities as well as kit and equipment. Hopefully completing this will help inspire others to undertake their own challenges.

I wanted to be involved in this challenge as I have followed Sean on his many adventures and admire his ‘give it a go’ attitude. His drive and passion are to be admired and the honour of doing an event alongside the Iron distance God would be amazing. I have a thirst for adventure and who better to get advice and guidance from than a true world class adventurer.

In school, I played rugby and then went on to do athletics. I was a sprinter, long jump, triple jumper and I wasn’t too bad at high jump (even though I am vertically challenged at 5’07”). I didn’t particularly enjoy running but I could run fast over short distances.

My introduction into multi sport didn’t occur until later on in life. Ironman Wales 2012 was my 1st ever triathlon, go big or go home. I was only meant to do it once but at the grand old age of 50, (nearly 51) I have completed many Ironman events, ultra marathons, Brutal Extreme Triathlon and am always looking for the next challenge.

To be raising funds for youth sport is very important as it gives youngsters the opportunity to take part in sports that weren’t available to me at their age. Today’s culture seems to involve gaming and social media so to provide the chance to be involved in sport is important to get them to put their phones down and get active.

I've been following Sean across social media for a while now and just amazed at what he can do and his 105 record had me gripped.  When the opportunity arose to get involved with his anniversary event i had to try and be a part of it. If it wasn't for Sean I don't think I would of signed up at all for a triathlon.

As a child I didn't really do any sports, as a teenager I got into racing motocross and was lucky enough to go skiing/snowboarding every year. Started trad climbing in 2020 and loved it and summited my first high altitude mountain in 2023 with more ti come in 2024. I attempted my first marathon in 2009 which didn't go so well. And didn't run for a long while after that. Got back into running a couple years ago and did the London Marathon in 2023 knocking of 1hr 45mins of my time. Got in to cycling end of last year as well and after seeing the iron 105 thought triathlon is the next step. So signed up to my first 70.3 in June 2023.

True Venture Foundation is such a great opportunity for children get involved in different sports. My daughter is very active at 6 years old loves to rock climb, ride horses, ride her bike and plays tennis, football, and various other sports at her school.
